Introduction
Squirrels belong to the family of Sciuridae. The family consists of members of different sizes of rodents. Tree squirrels, flying squirrels, ground squirrels and chipmunks are the other members of the family. Squirrels are locally found in the areas of Africa and America and moreover squirrels were initially introduced by the locals of Australia. They are more likely to live in trees which cause severe damage to trees. The trees that have more fruits and low hanging branches are expected to be more damaged by squirrels. The people who plant trees have to suffer from this damage because the people plant such fruitful trees for their profit purposes which are damaged by squirrels.
Squirrels damaging trees
Squirrels mostly make homes in trees by barking the tree branches and digging holes in the branches. They are very fast in climbing the trees and making their holes so they can have shelter. As squirrels have no specific area to live so they tend to weak trees whose branches are not strong enough. Comparatively, the trees that have healthy roots and are checked every day has probably safe from squirrels. The bark of the squirrels causes the great loss to the tree as the growth of the tree stops and in many cases the point where the squirrel barked is damaged and the upper part of the tree dies. The squirrels leave the mark of feed where ever they do in the woodland even if they are on the ground or on the tree.

Savings trees
The task is quite difficult when it comes to preventing squirrels from damaging the trees. Here are some steps which can stop squirrels from damaging trees.
-The trees should be planted with more care, they should be watered daily, fertilize properly and trim accurately.
-The base of the tree should be wrapped with chicken wire so that the squirrels won’t be able to climb the branch of a tree. The wire should be thick and almost length of 5 feet covering the base so when the squirrel won’t be able to climb and cause any harm.
-The people should stop planting those trees who are most suffered by the damages of squirrels.
-Spraying trees with Tabasco sauce with water. Spraying on affected areas of trees can reduce the level of damages.
-To reduce the numbers of squirrels, shooting is practiced.it has never shown good results but still shooting squirrels is common.
-There is another efficient and effective method of prevention which is cage trapping but this is only for few squirrels which are first trapped and then the old squirrels are replaced by new squirrels. This temporarily fixes the problem but it is time-consuming and costly.
Conclusion
Squirrels cause so much harm and damage to trees and the damage can only be decreased to some extent but cannot be completely finished at any level. If a large number of squirrels are trapped or killed, the new ones will be ready to replace them. There is no permanent method to stop squirrels from causing damage.
